Just a perfect day for a game of football on this Saturday.
Sun shining, soft under foot, no wind and a team of boys
up for a game.
The game started and the Hoops play was totally awesome.
They created so many chances in the first half it could have
been a cricket score but the Meadway goal seemed to be
having a charmed life and through some dogged
determination on their defense, some rushed chances
by our boys and just blind luck all we had to show at
half-time was a very fine finished goal by Sam G. It was
great reward after a very good move down the right
flank and the ball finally fell to Sam who ghosted past
two defenders before slotting it home.
At half time the Meadway coach stated to me he was
so glad his team was still in the game and he couldn't
believe we hadn't got into double figures. I could only
echo that statement.
The second half began as the first ended and it was all
Hoops pressure. The boys seemd to click up a gear
during this game and we looked threatening down
both flanks and straight up the middle also. It was just
some finishing practice that may be needed but if chances
are being created that can only be a good thing.
The Hoops finally earned another goal from the penalty
spot which Harvie duely dispatched. Finally a third came
following a bit of a goal mouth melee which Moff never
gave up on and bundled the ball through the Meadway
keeper and into the net.
This was just another great all round squad performance.
It didn't matter what players were on and in which position
they were in, they are all playing at the top of their game.
The passing and moving and calling is going great and long
may it continue through the month of March.
Results dependant, we could be into second place in the
division with a game against the league leaders approaching
on Saturday. Bring it on!!! If the boys can bring this same
attitude for the remaining games, who knows whgat awaits
the end of season.
Mentions to Alfie, Thomas and Macca in defense were huge.
Jack dominated midfield and anyone of Harvie, Reece and both
Sam's could have had more goals today. Keep it going boys,
it was an awesome performance!!
ps. Shaun, I'm getting that bloopers dvd organised tomorrow!!! ;-))
