Match Report 10/11/07

BARTON ROVERS A  3   vs WESTWOOD COLTS  0

Westwood started of in good flow with James making a good run down the left hand wing only to be blocked by a Barton defender, Shanna got well into the flow with some good headers. But once again against the run of play Barton broke through a good Westwood defence to put in some superb crosses that Sam worked really hard to clear with some brilliant saves.   1/2 time score 2-0 to Barton.

2nd half came Benji and Taylor worked hard in midfield and supplied a lovely pass in to Jack which he fired in to Barton’s goal only to be saved by there goalie, Westwood once again seem to take there foot off the gas to allow Barton there third and final goal of the match ..

I think that this was a game we should have got a point from and it was so frustrating to see Westwood giving Barton so much time and room on the ball after such as brilliant tight game last week.

Fair play award went to Sam for some brilliant saves and going in to the game with a no loose point of mind.

Match report 15th September 2007
Caversham A.F.C 6   v  Westwood Colts 1

In the pre match warm up Samuel got injured so Callum came in as goal keeper.
The match kicked of to a good start, after 3 minutes we were awarded a penalty. James stood up to take it and put a blinding shoot in the back of the net.
Spirits were now very high and confident levels were running good.
Some good tackling by Peter, Benji, Madeline, Alex,  kept us in good stead, even though by half time we were    2-1 down.
The sun was beaming down and as Westwood were doing all the running it took its toll. Westwood players started to lag due to the heat and Caversham turned up the heat, the left our defence standing even tough Paul, Taylor and Callum {now in defence} thought there socks off it was no good .  End result 6 - 1
I think we need to remember this was this teams first ever game, and the players need to take from this that they need to pass more and make the ball do the work and close the other team down and not give them the space they require.
Well tried team, lets look up for next week ..      Richard..
Fair play award went to Taylor for constantly battling..

Colts Review   8/9/07 v Woodley Town Kestrels Stars

Richard received a call from Steve at Hicks Head office to say the game had been cancelled due to Woodley unfortunately unable to field a team.
The outcome of this was that the Westwood Colts were awarded a 2-0 win.
We look forward to are 1st match next week, against Caversham A.F.C. C
