The Managers

DAVE HUNTER the former defensive rock of a record breaking" actually got a mention in the Guinness book of records" team has bought his vast knowledge and experience to the squad. Dave reminds of Steve Coppell with his well mannered and unassuming approach towards to team, but underneath that calm exterior lies a man with a relentless endeavour to make this team successful but also a fun place to be. Dave also obtained a degree in parent diplomacy at Ashmead School, which we must say has been a real asset of late. His attitude towards training is totally unique and reminds us of Wally Downs at Reading. He is extremely fortunate to receive brain waves of inspiration in the early hours, which like most talented and creative individuals is a god given talent.
We look forward to this campaign with Dave at the helm, with renewed optimism
.

COLIN SEMMENS reminds me of Kevin Keegan when it comes to football and management. Like Keegan Colin is very passionate about his football and a charm exterior hides a very determined and competitive character. The sort of people we need in the game. And this should help bring out the best in the boys. Keegan had his own soccer circus before going back into management, he should come to one of our training sessions, he would have seen a clown or two. He is aiming for a top 4 finish next season and if we achieve this he would    REALLY LOVE IT, REALLY LOVE IT.

SUMMER SIGNINGS

Alex Sheppard
It was touch and go with Alex, as a problem with his medical held up the signing. The clubs medical staff found that Alex had Viral Tonsillitis, but a few days rest and a course of antibiotics soon sorted the problem. Alex is our baby faced assassin, very good at running with the ball, taking on the defenders, a good crosser of the ball & chips in with a few goals to add to his CV.

Callum Pilbeam
Callum was the manager’s choice for player of the year, after a terrific season between the sticks. After the lose of our keeper just a couple of days before the start of the season, Callum stepped up and asked could he have a go in goal, he has been improving week by week and has developed into a very accomplished keeper keeping us in many a game, with some great saves. Callum has a great awareness of what’s going on around him, quick of his line, closing down the angles of the attacking forwards

Couper Munt
Couper is our Fernando Torres of the team, prolific in front of goal scoring 17 goals last season. Couper was handicapped last season as he couldn’t hear myself or Colin due to an ear problem which wasn’t sorted out until the end of the season, so with Couper able to hear us telling him what to do, we are expecting big things from Couper again this season. Unless he just ignores us and blames his hearing.

Daniel Strudley
Daniel was one of the quartet that joined us during the transfer window. We believe Daniel will be our Wayne Rooney of the squad; he is a very powerful player, runs directly at the opposition goal, a good strong shot on him. Daniel was played in the midfield last season, but we think that a forward position would be more suited to Daniel. Another great addition to the squad.

Elliott Holder
Elliot the last player to join us during the transfer window, we are expecting big things from Elliott this season. A player who links up the play between defenders and attackers in the same style as James Harper has done over the years. A good all round player, Elliott has made a great improvement in his game, we had our scouts watching him prior to him joining the Colts last season.

George Barrett
We are pleased to announce George Barret has extended his contract with the club; the combative defensive midfielder with an eye for a slide rule pass reminiscent of Diaby at Arsenal will help to forge the link between defence and attack and will be great asset in our squad for the forthcoming season.

Joshua Blake
J
oshua joined the Wanderers during the transfer window, a great goal keeper who also can play in our defensive line up, which is a fantastic asset to have within the squad. Joshua is a good shot stopper and distributes the ball well. So a big welcome to the squad.

Louie Pich
Another mover in the transfer window, Louie decided to stay within the English league, this after a late approach from one of the top European clubs. Louie is our Stephen Hunt of the squad a very fast and comfortable left sided, attack minded midfield player, Louie gets upset with himself if his performance is not to his usual high standards.

Matthew Semmens
The club are pleased to announce that Matthew Semmens has renewed his contract. After much behind the scenes wrangling with his representatives a deal has been struck with the exciting winger. His vision and all round one touch ability mixed with his Van Persie like crossing and passing will be a major influence in our assault on the title this season. As a management team we are looking forward to this attack minded player mixing with our other new signings. Currently contract details are unavailable but it is believed that  a Nintendo Wii game and milky bar could have fended off interest from other clubs!!!!

Nathan Hunter
Nathan re-signed for Westwood Wanderers today, after a couple of days of tough negotiations with his agent (mum). A new record club fee was paid, thought to be around 2 packs of Pokémon cards. Nathan is our Rio Ferdinand of the team, he is very comfortable on the ball doesn’t panic when under pressure and can set up an attack with a good pass out of defence. He also wants to play for Man Utd, England & own a red Ferrari.

Samuel Goodwin
Samuel won the players player of the year which is probably the best accolade a player can get. Samuel is our Owen Hargreaves of the team, a fantastic player who sits in front of the back line, breaking up the opponents play and then setting up our own attacks. Samuel is a very confident player and likes to run at the opposition with the ball at his feet skipping past most challenges, also scored a couple of good goals in the process.

Harry New
Colin & Dave managed to sign this talented young player just as the transfer window was going to close on registration day. A lot of Interest from other local clubs for Harry’s services was fort off after showing Harry the clubs vision of local football combined with the clubs training ground and other outstanding facilities.
Harry is a combination of Paul Scholes & Michael Carrick. He is at home helping out both the defence and forward line, very assured on the ball and an eye for a slide rule pass, not afraid to get in the thick of the action when the going gets tough, Harry picks up the no; 15 shirt and that’s how many goals we think he can get this season.
