Match Report 2 15th
September 2007
Westwood Colts 5 vs.
Woodley Wanderers 2
The 2nd game of
the season and the momentum of the first win of the season was carried
over to this match. We came up against Woodley Wanderers who narrowly
lost 2-1 to Pangbourne last week. The match started evenly and then in
the 4th minute a ball from Morgan at the back played through
to
Elliott
in the centre who passed it through to Matthew who shot to his right
forcing the keeper into a good save. The breakthrough came in the 5th
minute when after a break down the right we won a corner. Taken by
Morgan the ball was crossed firmly into the centre to Elliot who knocked
it out to Llwyd on the left who turned and planted the ball past the
keeper into the net at the right hand post 1-0 Colts. In the 6th
minute Woodley broke through down the right but the play ended with a
shot going out for a goal-kick. In the 8th minute again
Woodley came attacking, the Colts defence not in control and losing
their positions. In the 12th minute the Woodley keeper
cleared the ball out only to Matthew whose shot went just over the bar.
The Colts came close again in the 14th minute with a shot
going just wide of the right post from Elliot. Straight from the
goal-kick Woodley attacked through the middle but good defending by
Louie playing the ball out for a corner. In the 16th minute
the Colts extended their lead, after an attack broke down with the ball
going back to the Woodley keeper, the clearance going to Matthew whose
passed to Llwyd who then played it out to Aaron on the right who shot
went into the net at the near post 2-0 Colts. 17th minute,
straight from the kick-off the Colts won the ball back, Morgan played
the ball to Aaron on the right whose cross out to left was received by
Llwyd whose left foot shot went in at the far right hand post 3-0 Colts

Colts 3-0 Woodley Wanderers
The second half started
well for the Colts and in the 2nd minute a shot (or was it a
clearance??) from Morgan who was in his own half ( a la Beckham) took a
deflection from a defender on the right that gave the keeper no chance.
He admitted it was a clearance but hey who cares. 4-0 Colts. 5th
minute ball played through from Louie to Matthew run through defence
shot wide right. In the 9th minute all the concentration
seemed to go from the Colts, whether through being 4-0 up who knows?
The ball came through the middle from Woodley the defence were at sixes
and sevens and their forward tucked the ball in at the right hand post,
4-1. In the19th minute again we went to sleep, the ball came
through the middle out to the right, shot came in from the right under
the body of Aaron into the goal, 4-2. Straight from the kick-off the
ball went wide right to Matthew who played the ball into the centre
where Llwyd controlled and shot across the keeper into the far corner
for his hat-trick 5-2.

Colts 5-2 Woodley Wanderers
Llwyd received the
performance of the day award for his effort and continued running during
the game and capped off with his hat-trick.
Whilst the result was
there, I felt that the performance wasn’t, our passing wasn’t as fluent
as last week and our overall game seemed to be off the boil. No
pleasing some people eh?? ;-) Plenty more work to be done in training
boys.

report 8th September 2007
Westwood Colts 5 vs Woodley Saints Tigers 1
WOW what a start to the
season!!
1st half:-Woodley Saints Tigers started the game the stronger
and were full of confidence and in the 6th minute took the
lead with a shot that came through build up play from the middle 0-1.
The Colts didn’t let that knock their confidence and after a shot by
Llwyd in the 10th minute, saved well by the Woodley keeper,
were deservedly back in the match in the 15th minute, when
after some pressure down the left won a corner, Morgan played the ball
firmly into the centre where Matthew received it and planted it firmly
into the net with his left foot. 1-1. Approaching half-time the ball
came down the left to Matthew who shot from outside the penalty box,
the keeper again making a save but parried the ball across the goal
where Morgan got the final touch ahead of Llwyd on the goal-line to make
it 2-1
H/T Woodley Saints Tigers 1-2 Westwood Wanderers Colts
Buoyed buy the late 1st half goal the boys started the 2nd
half strongly and extended their lead in the 2nd minute .
The ball was played from the back to Morgan who played the ball through
to Elliott whose first touch was played excellently through to Matthew
who didn’t hesitate and scored with a right foot shot into the net 3-1.
Four minutes later in the 6th minute again after some play
from the back Morgan picked up the ball in midfield and egged on from
the touchline went towards the Woodley defence and unleashed a strong
shot from outside the box given the keeper no chance 4-1. In the 12th
minute Matthew scored his hat-trick to make it 5-1.
Praise to all the boys today, Jack when called upon in goal done well,

more talking and encouragement next week, Llwyd a lot of running today
and again your chance will come in front of goal, the keeper making some
good saves today and last but not least Matthew, a good all round
performance capped with a fine hat-trick.
Daniel received
the performance of the day award for his determined effort and continued
running in the effort to try and score on his birthday, never mind
better luck through the season.
