A GREAT END TO THE SEASON

Final game after a long lay off. We were a bit worried after no 11 a side football for some months but the local rivalry saw us rise to the occasion !!!

First half saw us playing up hill and giving as good as we got. We had a few unfortunate decisions against us leading to at least one of the goals but we went in 2 a piece. Second half with the benefit of the slope saw us go two gaols clear before Barton clawed one back in the final minutes. Goals from Dan -a header (this has to be a first !!!)Louis after a good passing move, Matty a good through ball and tap past the keeper and an absolute rocket from Nathan. A really good performance from Nick who played middle of defence and this worked a treat. Everyone had a good game with some great passes and tackles. Luke worked really hard up front supplying some great crosses and passes.

KENNET 9 vs WESTWOOD 1

No excuses Kennet played very well. We played well in parts and probably deserved a bit more from the game. Everyone did try their best and tried to play football. Well done to Kennet and good luck.

High point of the game was Nathans goal. A long shot with the wind behind it - great goal !!!

Nathan worked really hard all game and deserved the man of the match award. Well done Nathan.

One more league game left against Barton.

BOYNE HILL U13 9 -0 WESTWOOD U 13

A very depleted team due to school Football trip and half term. We did OK for 10 mins then we let in two quick goals and our heads went down. We played OK in parts of the game but just did not clear the ball or win it in mid field. Will had his first game in goal and did OK well done Will. Man of the match was Matty .He showed everyone how to put in the effort for the full game.

Bring on Barton for the last game of the season and we still have the Cup Semi finals !!

Match Report 10/2/08

Theale 3 vs Westwood Colts 3

We can see the score on the sheet but we all know that we won the game. I can't really say any more here !!!!

First half saw us go in at half time at 1-1.We went behind after about 15 mins but pulled one back via Luke. We hit the bar and had shots cleared off the line.

Second half saw 2 penalties given against us .The first one was re taken 3 times !! I would like to write quite a lot about it but not here !!

Luke scored a great goal that originally saw us in the lead before the penalty incidents. Nathan got on the sheet and that saved us at 3 all.

Man of the match was Luke great goals mate !!!

Luis also had a fantastic game at the back-good job !!

Purley have not lost this season and we could see why.!!

Westwood 3 - 2 Thatcham Tornadoes

GREAT CUP RESULT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our best performance all season. The first half saw us playing up hill against the wind and going 2 nil down. Daniel got one back to take us in 2-1 behind at half time. Second half we really came out wanting it. Great passing and fantastic defending saw Nick get 2 goals to give us the win. Man of the match was Andrew for really getting stuck in. Luke came close with several other chances. Dale made some great crunching tackles and Jim saved a scorcher to make it all possible.

GREAT PERFORMANCE LADS.

Match Report 6/1/08

Purley U13 10 -0 Westwood U 13 Colts

First game after Christmas saw us travel up the road to Purley. Purley have not lost a game so far this season and we found out why !!We had a very good first half but we were still trailing 0-4b at half time. We really played well with Liam making some great saves. We were beaten by some good pace up front by Ryan and Rees for Purley.

Second half we gave a way a few soft goals where we could have cleared the ball. Some really good performances by a number of players. Man of the match was Jim with some great tackles and real effort. Liam had another great game in goal. Nick made some great runs up the wing and got in some good crosses.

A good performance despite the score !!

Match Report 16/12/07

Thatcham 5 vsWestwood 1

The first half was really tight .At half time we wer1-0 down but it was too close to call. We started the second half really positively but the ref missed a hand ball that led to all our players stopping. Always play to the whistle !!They went on to score and this changed the game. Another goal followed and meant we had to chase the game. We had a load of chances to score but it just would not go in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luke pulled one back with a great goal and individual skill.

Nathan took a couple of great free kicks that brushed passed the post but we drifted to 5-1.We played better than the score showed and were unlucky.

Man of the match was Liam who played his first full game in goal for us-What a great performance. Some great saves/good kicks and came out really well!!!!!-Well done Liam.

Kennett 6 v Westwood Colts 3

A very wet pitch in Prospect Park saw the linesman (me !!) take a tumble and get muddier than the players !! Great amusement from all the on lookers !!

The first half in a very strong wind saw us ship some early goals that made it difficult to recover. Half time saw us 5-1 down. Matty added to his goals total though with a great goal from a corner. We were unlucky to not get more after some great pressure and good chances.

The second half was all ours. We really upped our game. Luke scored a really well taken penalty after Matty was brought down by the keeper.

Luke followed this up with a ball across the goal that crept in the back corner.

Will followed this up with a number of fantastic saves in goal. Jake ran his legs off in defense. Lewis playing as a defensive mid fielder worked really hard and other Will did well playing in a forward position.

Men of the match were Lewis, Jake, Will-keeper, William.

Great effort second half. We look forward to Theale next week.

Westwood Colts 2 v Boyne Hill 6

Man of the match picture attached- 3 way tie Matty ,Jake and Jim.

At least it was warmer this week !!!

We started well and looked the better side but went behind after 10
mins. We then pulled it back with goals from Matty and Luke to take us
into the lead. Unfortunately we conceded again to make it 2 a piece.
After half time we went to sleep for 5 min’s and let in two goals. This
then put us on the back foot for the rest of the game. Jim made some
great saves to stop the score getting away from us. We were unlucky
with Luke coming close several times but luck was against us !!
Jake made some great last ditch tackles in defense on numerous occasions.

Never mind we are looking forward to playing Kennett again next week

Match Report 18/11/07

Laurel Park 5 - 2 Westwood U 13 Colts

The wettest coldest game we have ever had !!!

My car thermometer said it was 3 degrees after the game !!! The man of
the match picture says it all.

First half saw us on top with the wind behind us. We went in 2-1 up
after goals from Luke and Nathan. Unfortunately we were really unlucky
and hit the post .had it saved off the line several times. This meant
we did not get the best benefit from the wind that we could have
done. Second half saw Laurel Park use the wind to get 4 more
goals. Again we were unlucky with a good penalty appeal that was turned
down their keeper made a great save but then when the ball was hit
back in it appeared to strike a hand to stop it going in. Everyone
displayed real grit to keep going. Man of the match was Nathan and
Liam. Nathan worked really hard all game and got a goal. Liam had a good
first half in defence and then went in goal after the first half
keeper Jim turned blue with cold (he really did !!)

Westwood Colts u13 0- 23 Woodley Kestrels

Unfortunately this is what happens when you get into the second round
of the cup!!!!!

Woodley Kestrels have not lost this season and we now w why-Well done to them. Despite the score our guys must take credit for not getting
disheartened about it and we need to move on to next weeks game. Man of
the match was Jim who was in goal. He made some great saves and did not
give up all game.

Also a mention for Liam who made some great tackles and we need more
of that next week when we play Laurel Park.

Westwood Colts 4 vs Barton Rovers 4

A hard fought draw

We were caught out by two quick goals in the first half that left us fighting to get level in the game. The lads showed great determination to get back to 2 all at half time. The second half despite us being the better team saw another two goals each to make it 4 all. Matty got his hat rick (well done Matty !!!)Luke got the other goal with a great individual effort. We also had near misses from Daniel who hit the bar. This was a really hard fought game and at the end of the day a good result. Man of the match was Dale with some good crunching tackles at the back. Well done Dale !!(How did Dale play all 70 mins without breaking his glasses then break them at the end !!)

WESTWOOD COLTS 4 v KENNETT VALLEY U 2

GREAT WIN BY U 13 COLTS

A fantastic game and great all round team performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This takes us right up the league!! The first half saw us score two great goals despite the wind and rain to take us 2 nil up. Kennett had not really worried us all the first half and we had kept a really tight defence. The start of the second half saw us concede two quick goals. Kennett were right back in it. A g further goal from Westwood saw us pull ahead then an own goal finished them off.

The goal scorers for us were Nick -2 and Luke. Nick nearly got his hat rick but he just couldn't quite catch up with the ball and it went in anyway !!!

Man of the match was Ollie for his great determination at the back. Worthy of not also though is Nick. Nick scored twice but was also all over the pitch helping out the whole game. Most important though was the whole team performance .

WELL DONE EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

After last weeks great victory we came down to earth with a bump !!

The first half saw us caught half asleep and 7 goals down before Luke managed to score a great individual goal. It was a big ask to come back from here but everyone gave it a real go in the second half. We scored first and were really starting to turn it around. Another goal was put in by Nick but was eventually judged to be off side. This seemed to stop our momentum and .Luke did get another but we just ran out of time.

Man of the match was Lewis. He kept going all game and also tried to raise the spirits of his team mates.

A hard game and Laurel Park looked really good!!

FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

A great afternoon but with a strong breeze against us first half. Our normal keeper was not able to play in goal due to a swollen hand. William played out on pitch instead. The start of the game saw us go 1 nil up before Theale pulled it back to one all. Another goal each saw us at two all at half time. The

scorers were Daniel -2 ,Luke-2,Nick-1,Matty -1,William -1.

A GREAT RESULT WITH GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYED BY ALL THE TEAM.

First game of the season and it was baking hot !!!!!!!!!!!

We started strongly with Nathan hitting the bar. Our newest player Luke then scored his first goal for Westwood. Unfortunately due to injury he had to come off. This was the turning point in the game as Thatcham then got on top. Thatcham scored 4 times before the break. After half time Nathan scored a brilliant individual goal to put us back in the game. Thatcham gathered pace though and scored twice more.

All in all a good performance with all our new players and a promising start.

Man of the match was Nathan.
