BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CLUB
Westwood Wanderers FC
was formed in 1972 by a group of football enthusiastic dads to provide
football for their children and friends children. The club has now grown
to be one of the largest and most successful in the area providing
football for the under 6's up to and including the under 17's. for both
boys and girls, culminating in 2004 by being awarded the FA Charter
Standard Development Club by the Football Association. Westwood being
one of only a handful of clubs in the Reading area and within the
Berks and Bucks FA
to be awarded the status of
Development Club.
The club's teams primarily
play within two leagues, Hicks Development and South Chiltern Minor
League
(SCML),
although age groups have played in the Peter Houseman League, the North
East Hants Youth League and the East Berks League.
The club has a long
history of successful teams and age groups
winning league titles, SCML sponsored Chronicle Cup competitions,
Slough and Windsor Cup competitions, Crocks & Crystal Challenge
Cup competitions and Berks and Bucks FA Cup competitions
Westwood Wanderers
are also fully committed and signed up with the FA to promote "GOAL"
providing a better future in football for children, additionally
Westwood fully back and have always been proactive in the "Kick Racism
Out of Football" campaign. The club has its own policy and Codes of
Conduct which
